AO Racing Explores Expansion: From IMSA to IndyCar and Beyond

AO Racing, a prominent team in the IMSA racing series, is considering expanding its racing program to other series. Known for its distinctive dinosaur-themed Porsche in GTD Pro and a purple dragon livery on its LMP2 entry, AO Racing has garnered a loyal fan base of all ages. The team has also participated in the WEC in 2023 and competed in the last three 24 Hours of Le Mans events in the LMP2 category.

With an eye on leveraging its success, AO Racing is exploring various options for expansion, including potentially venturing into a prototype GTP program, joining the IndyCar series, or even entering NASCAR. Brian McKinley, the team's chief marketing commercial officer, hinted at these expansion plans, emphasizing the goal of broadening the team's presence in motorsports.

While discussing the future direction of AO Racing, McKinley expressed a preference for sustained involvement in any new series rather than one-off appearances. He highlighted the team's interest in potentially transitioning to a full-time program in IndyCar, rather than participating in isolated events like the Indianapolis 500. The team's recent achievements, including winning the 2024 GTD Pro championship and leading the points standings in the 2025 LMP2 season, have positioned AO Racing for further growth and success in the racing world.
