Columbia Supreme's Inaugural Basketball All-Star Classic Raises Funds for Heavenleigh Scholarship Fund
Columbia Supreme hosted its inaugural Basketball All-Star Classic at Oakland Middle School to raise funds for a new scholarship program. The event featured various basketball competitions, including three-point shots, King or Queen of the court, and Hot Shot, allowing attendees to showcase their skills on the court. The main event saw two teams comprised of student athletes, former players, and basketball professionals competing against each other.
The event was graced by the presence of Columbia Mayor Barbara Buffaloe, with KOMU 8 anchor Evie Allen serving as the emcee. Anthony Johnson, the founder of Columbia Supreme, organized the event to introduce the Heavenleigh Scholarship Fund in memory of Heavenleigh Humes, a parent associated with Columbia Supreme. The scholarship aims to provide financial assistance to Heavenleigh's family and other families in need within the community.
During the event, the Scotty Williams Community Champion Award was presented for the first time to Julian Jackman, the executive director of P.E.A.C.E. and co-founder of R.I.S.E Initiative in Columbia. He expressed his intention to make the All-Star Classic an annual event to continue supporting families in need.
