Trackhouse Racing experienced a mix of emotions at the Charlotte Motor Speedway Roval as Shane van Gisbergen secured his fifth consecutive victory on road or street courses, while teammate Ross Chastain was knocked out of the NASCAR Cup Series playoffs on the final lap. Chastain's 21st-place finish left him four points behind Joey Logano, who finished 20th after a bold pit strategy. Despite a strong start, Chastain's playoff hopes were dashed when he spun out in the last corner while battling for position.
Kyle Larson claimed second place, trailing van Gisbergen by over 15 seconds, with Christopher Bell, Chris Buescher, and Michael McDowell rounding out the top five. Logano advanced to the Round of 8 along with Ryan Blaney, Denny Hamlin, Larson, Bell, William Byron, Chase Briscoe, and Chase Elliott. The next round, which will determine the Championship 4 contenders, kicks off at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on October 12.

Unfortunately, Chastain's playoff journey came to an end after a costly mistake during a Stage 1 pit stop. Despite a strong recovery, he couldn't overcome the setback and missed out on advancing. Joining Chastain in playoff elimination were Tyler Reddick, Bubba Wallace, and Austin Cindric, who suffered damage in a collision with Carson Hocevar. Logano narrowly avoided elimination at the Round of 12, thanks to a strategic pit call by crew chief Paul Wolfe that propelled him into the next round.
