Treasures Unveiled: Highlights from Rare Books L.A. Book Fair at Union Station
Rare Books L.A. recently hosted a vibrant book fair at Union Station, attracting antiquarian booksellers and collectors from around the country. The event showcased a variety of printed treasures, from rare investment pieces to historical artifacts. Among the highlights was a first edition of "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" priced at $225,000, a surviving copy of the 1882 Los Angeles Telephone Book for $13,000, and a collection of letters from a literary cat named Dr. Absalom Minola. Additionally, a deluxe commemorative box set of Edward Abbey's "The Monkey Wrench Gang" and a signed edition of Salvador Dalí's reimagined "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" were featured at the fair. A poster of Emiliano Zapata from Cesar Chavez's Farm Worker Press and a complete set of California State Lottery Scratchers from the 1980s were also on display, offering a glimpse into the diverse world of collectible printed materials.
