Amrum: A Film by Fatih Akin Secures International Distribution Deals

Beta Cinema has successfully sold the rights to Fatih Akin's film, Amrum, to various key territories before its theatrical release in Germany this weekend. The movie has secured deals for Australia & New Zealand, India, Latin America, Portugal, Scandinavia, Italy, Greece, Turkey, and Ukraine. Earlier this year, the film was also sold to North America, France, Spain, Japan, and Benelux. Amrum premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in May and is based on true events from German filmmaker Hark Bohm's childhood memories. The story revolves around 12-year-old Nanning as he uncovers his family's secret during the final weeks of World War II on the island of Amrum. The cast includes Jasper Billerbeck, Laura Tonke, Lisa Hagmeister, Kian Koppke, Matthias Schweighofer, and Diane Kruger. The film is produced by Laura Forte for bomber international and Warner Bros Film Productions Germany, with co-production from Rialto Film. Various German funds have supported the project, and Warner Bros Germany will release Amrum in German-speaking territories on October 9.
