John Lodge, a legendary bassist and vocalist known for his contributions to The Moody Blues, passed away at the age of 82. His family announced his sudden and unexpected death while he was surrounded by loved ones and listening to music by The Everly Brothers and Buddy Holly. Lodge joined The Moody Blues in 1966, becoming a key member of the band and contributing to their most acclaimed albums, including "Days of Future Passed" and "In Search of the Lost Chord." Throughout his career with The Moody Blues, Lodge helped the band sell over 70 million albums worldwide.

Lodge remained active with The Moody Blues until their final live performances in 2018 and their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He was known for his enduring love for his family, his passion for music, and his faith. Lodge was recognized as one of the most influential bass players globally and received several awards for his outstanding contributions to music.

In addition to his work with The Moody Blues, Lodge had a successful solo career, releasing five albums and collaborating with bandmate Justin Hayward on the 1975 project "Blue Jays." His most recent release was the 2025 EP "Love Will Conquer All." In 2024, Lodge reimagined The Moody Blues' iconic album "Days of Future Passed" with his 10,000 Light Years Band, paying tribute to the late Moody Blues drummer Graeme Edge. Lodge's family expressed their gratitude to fans for their support and shared his signature phrase, "thank you for keeping the faith."
