Jumanji 3: Adventure Continues with Returning Cast and New Faces
Sony has announced the upcoming production of the next Jumanji film, set to start filming in Los Angeles in November. The main cast, including Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, and Karen Gillan, will be returning for the third installment of the franchise, directed by Jake Kasdan. The movie is scheduled for release on December 11, 2026. The script for the film is penned by Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg, the writers behind the previous entries in the series.
The Jumanji franchise has a rich history, starting with Chris Van Allsburg's 1981 picture book that inspired the 1995 film starring Robin Williams. Sony revived the property in 2017 with a modern twist, transforming the board game into a video game that transports real teenagers into avatar bodies. The rebooted series has been a massive success, grossing over $962 million worldwide for the first film and $800 million for the 2019 sequel.
The upcoming Jumanji film aims to continue the successful formula of blending comedy, action, and big-screen spectacle that made the rebooted series a hit. Returning actors from the real-world teen cast, such as Alex Wolff, Madison Iseman, Ser'Darius Blaine, and Morgan Turner, are expected to reprise their roles. Awkwafina, who joined the cast in the previous film, is also set to return. Additionally, new faces like Brittany O'Grady and Burn Gorman will be joining the adventure, with their characters' details being kept under wraps for now.
With the next Jumanji installment building on the momentum of its predecessors, fans can anticipate another thrilling and entertaining journey into the world of Jumanji. The combination of returning favorites and new additions to the cast promises to deliver an exciting and fresh take on the beloved franchise.
