Hansen revealed that he started contemplating leaving FOREIGNER during the COVID pandemic when he had time to reflect on his life. He expressed a desire to enjoy a quieter life with friends and family after spending nearly 50 years in the music industry. Hansen discussed his decision to retire from the band and pass the torch to Luis Maldonado, the new lead vocalist of FOREIGNER.
Looking ahead, Hansen mentioned that he has no concrete plans for the future and intends to take a break before exploring new opportunities. He highlighted the philanthropic work he has done with FOREIGNER and expressed a willingness to continue supporting charitable causes. Hansen emphasized the emotional nature of his final tour with FOREIGNER and his hope to maintain composure during his last performance.
Hansen's departure marks the end of his 20-year tenure with FOREIGNER, during which he played a significant role in the band's live performances. Mick Jones, the founding member of FOREIGNER, praised Hansen's contributions and welcomed Maldonado as the new lead singer. Maldonado, known for his work with TRAIN and Lisa Marie Presley, expressed his readiness to honor FOREIGNER's legacy and bring his passion to every performance.
FOREIGNER underwent a transition with Hansen replacing original singer Lou Gramm. Despite these challenges, FOREIGNER continues to evolve with Maldonado stepping into the spotlight as the band's new lead singer.
