The release will also include a 28-page booklet with never-before-seen entries from John's personal diary.
Originally released in 1975, Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy was Elton's ninth studio album and quickly became one of his most successful records. It achieved gold certification before its release and topped the Billboard 200 upon debut, eventually becoming a triple-platinum chart-topping hit. The album includes the gold-selling Top 5 hit "Someone Saved My Life Tonight."
The album was written aboard The SS France, the world's longest passenger liner, as Elton John was traveling back to the US for a break in a busy year. With lyrics provided by Bernie Taupin, Elton composed the music in the liner's music room, committing everything to memory as he didn't have a tape recorder. The album was recorded at Caribou Ranch with producer Gus Dudgeon.
