Snoop Dogg and GLAAD Unite for Spirit Day: Spreading Love and Acceptance Through 'Love Is Love

Snoop Dogg has joined forces with GLAAD to show support for Spirit Day, an initiative aimed at combating bullying against LGBTQ+ youth. The rapper recently engaged in a special conversation with Jeremy Beloate, a member of the LGBTQ+ community and former contestant on “The Voice,” who was part of Team Snoop on the show. They discussed their collaboration on a new song called “Love Is Love,” which is featured in Snoop’s animated children’s YouTube series, “Doggyland.”
In the show, Beloate lends his voice to a puppy character named Zippy, who joins the Doggyland pups in singing “Love Is Love,” a song that celebrates the love found within families. Snoop, on the other hand, voices Bow Wizzle, one of the main characters in the series. The song emphasizes the importance of love and acceptance in families, showcasing various same-sex couples on screen.
Snoop’s partnership with GLAAD and the release of the song “Love Is Love” follow his previous comments about the Pixar film “Lightyear.” During an episode of the “It’s Giving” podcast, Snoop expressed discomfort after watching the movie with his grandchildren, particularly in response to a scene featuring two women raising a child and sharing a same-sex kiss. He felt unprepared to address his grandson’s questions about the situation, highlighting the need for more inclusive representation in media.
Reflecting on his collaboration with GLAAD and the positive message conveyed in “Love Is Love,” Snoop emphasized the importance of spreading love and respect for all individuals. He stated that promoting kindness, inclusion, and love is essential for the next generation, reinforcing the idea that acceptance is powerful and love conquers all. The rapper’s involvement in Spirit Day and his commitment to advocating for equality align with his belief in fostering a culture of compassion and understanding.
