Driving Hope: American Cancer Society's Road To Recovery Program Offers Free Rides for Cancer Patients

Dealing with cancer is a challenging experience that can take a toll on patients and their loved ones. One of the logistical challenges faced by cancer patients is getting to and from medical appointments on time, especially for those without reliable transportation. The American Cancer Society's Road To Recovery program offers a solution by providing free rides to cancer-related medical appointments for patients who are unable to drive themselves.

Road to Recovery is a volunteer-powered program with nearly 6,000 volunteers across the United States. In 2024, the program provided 71,500 free rides to over 6,200 cancer patients nationwide. In the Austin area, Road to Recovery served 57 patients and provided over 500 rides with the help of 38 volunteers. Last week, Alpine Formula 1 Team hosted seven Road to Recovery volunteers ahead of the United States Grand Prix, giving them a tour of the paddock and team garage, and a surprise visit from drivers Pierre Gasly and Franco Colapinto.

Guy Martin, Alpin's Global Marketing Director, expressed pride in highlighting the American Cancer Society's Road To Recovery program and thanked the volunteers for their dedication to helping cancer patients. Volunteer driver Edi Arnold shared how rewarding it has been to support cancer patients through the Road To Recovery program over the past two years.
