Chauncey Billups, the head coach of the Portland Trail Blazers, was arrested by FBI agents this week on charges related to an alleged mafia-linked gambling scheme. Along with Miami Heat guard Terry Rozier, Billups faces five conspiracy charges for his supposed involvement in an illegal high-stakes poker ring across the United States. In a post-game interview, Billups made a now unfortunate statement, saying, “I’ll do the best that I can, and let the chips fall where they may.”
Following his arrest, Billups has been placed on leave from the NBA, and Tiago Splitter, a former NBA center and Blazers assistant, has been named as the team’s interim head coach.
