Former Chicago Bears Quarterback Jay Cutler Arrested in Franklin, Tennessee for DUI and Gun Possession

Former Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler was arrested in Franklin, Tennessee, following a minor traffic collision in October 2024. Cutler, 41, rear-ended another vehicle and allegedly tried to flee the scene after offering the other driver $2,000 not to involve the police. He faced charges of driving under the influence, possession of a handgun while intoxicated, failure to exercise due care, and violation of the implied consent law.

Bodycam footage released by the Franklin Police Department captured the aftermath of the crash. The victim reported that Cutler attempted to escape but was stopped by a dead end. Cutler denied consuming alcohol before the accident but later admitted to having "a little bit" when questioned by an impairment officer. Refusing a field sobriety test led to his immediate arrest.

Cutler's blood alcohol content was recorded at .23 by Franklin police. He spent two and a half days in the Williamson County jail and received supervised probation for a year, including random drug tests. Cutler was also fined $350, had his driver's license revoked, and had the gun charge dropped as part of his guilty plea.

Jay Cutler, who retired from the NFL in 2017 after a 12-year career, was previously married to reality star Kristin Cavallari before their divorce in 2022. The incident marked a significant legal consequence for the former football player, highlighting the importance of responsible behavior on the road.
