Inside the Knoxville Ice Bears: A Look at Drew King's Dual Role in Hockey
Located on the top floor of the Knoxville Civic Auditorium and Coliseum is the headquarters of Hockey Top, the home of the Knoxville Ice Bears. Drew King, the corporate services executive, is busy making calls, especially leading up to the team's first game of the season. King also serves as the head coach of the Tennessee Volunteers' club hockey team, a role he finds rewarding. He values the experience gained from working with the Ice Bear coaches, which has been beneficial for his coaching career and the Ice Vols.
King's passion for hockey is evident in his involvement with the sport. Recently, he had the opportunity to step back onto the ice when the team needed to fill a roster spot for an exhibition game. Despite the organization receiving a fine for his participation, King scored a goal during the game, a moment he will never forget. The Ice Bears' home opener is scheduled for Friday, October 24, 2025, against Roanoke.
