2026 Songwriters Hall of Fame Nominations: A Diverse Lineup of Musical Legends

The 2026 Songwriters Hall of Fame class nominations have been announced, featuring a diverse group of artists from various genres such as pop, hip-hop, folk, and rock. Nominees include Taylor Swift, Kenny Loggins, LL Cool J, Pink, Sarah McLachlan, and David Byrne of Talking Heads. The list also includes members of bands like The Go-Go’s, The Guess Who, America, and Kiss, among others.
The nominees in the performer-songwriter category encompass a wide range of talents, including Richard Carpenter of The Carpenters, Harry Wayne Casey of KC and the Sunshine Band, and Boz Scaggs. The non-performer category nominees consist of notable songwriters like Pete Bellotte, Andreas Carlsson, Steve Kipner, and Madonna collaborator Patrick Leonard, among others.
Country songwriters like Jeffrey Steele, Don Williams, and Larry Weiss are represented in the nominations, as well as R&B-pop songwriters Tom Snow and Christopher “Tricky” Stewart. Some returning nominees from previous years include Walter Afanasieff, Randy Bachman and Burton Cummings of The Guess Who, and Bob McDill.
The Songwriters Hall of Fame, established in 1969, honors those who have made significant contributions to popular music. Inductees must have a notable catalog of songs and qualify for induction 20 years after the first commercial release of a song. Past inductees include Elton John, Brian Wilson, Carole King, and many others.
The 2026 inductees will be announced in early 2026, and the voting members have until December 4 to submit their ballots.
