Coach Ruben Resendes Leads Bryant University Men's Soccer to Historic Success
Bryant University recently appointed Ruben Resendes as the new head coach of the men's soccer program, a decision that has proven to be highly successful. Under Resendes' leadership, the Bulldogs have achieved a remarkable ranking of 2nd in Division 1 with a stellar record of 13-0-2. This ranking marks the highest in the program's history and showcases the team's exceptional performance.
In 2024, Bryant University finished as the runner-up in the America East Conference tournament, ultimately losing to Vermont in the final match. The team concluded the season with a commendable record of 10-6-4. The previous year, in 2023, the Bulldogs secured their first conference title, earning a spot in the Division I Men's Soccer Championship tournament with an impressive record of 16-2-2.
Before joining Bryant University, Resendes and his coaching staff received recognition from the United States Soccer Coaches as the East Region Coaching Staff of the Year during their tenure at Franklin Pierce. Resendes also served as the top assistant coach at the University of Vermont, contributing to the team's America East Conference Championship win in 2017. Additionally, he led Dean College's transition to the NCAA level, achieving a remarkable 33-3 record and earning accolades as the East Region Coach of the Year.
Resendes' extensive coaching experience includes working with the New England Revolution of Major League Soccer as a scout for the First Team and Academy, as well as coaching the U23 and Academy teams. A Fall River native, Resendes excelled as a player at the New England Revolution Academy before continuing his successful career at Southern New Hampshire University, where he received All-America honors and multiple All-Region selections.
