Neil Young's 'as time explodes' Video: A Bold Critique of Trump, Tech Billionaires, and Political Corruption

Neil Young has released a new video titled “as time explodes,” featuring news footage that continues his criticism of the Trump administration and tech billionaires, while also showing support for ICE and “No Kings” protests. The video, set to a guitar instrumental reminiscent of his 2003 track “Be the Rain,” begins with coverage of the White House’s East Wing demolition during the government shutdown and a banner stating, “The 1% ruins the world.” It then shows Mark Zuckerberg, Jeff Bezos, and Elon Musk on stage, along with a tweet about oligarchs looting America.

The video goes on to depict Musk with a chainsaw, Tim Cook at the White House, and Trump receiving a luxury jet from Qatar. It also includes footage of the National Guard at ICE protests in Los Angeles and Portland, Trump’s military parade, and scenes supporting the “No Kings” protests. Young, known for his vocal opposition to the Trump administration and tech giants, has previously called for a boycott of Amazon and left Facebook earlier this year.

In September, Young released “Big Crime,” a song directly criticizing Trump’s government takeover of law enforcement in Washington, DC. The video “as time explodes” adds to Young’s ongoing commentary on political and social issues, using powerful imagery and music to convey his message.
