The Pond in Ponderay, Idaho, Prepares for Spooky Halloween Celebration and Hockey Tournament Kickoff

The Pond in Ponderay, Idaho, is gearing up for a spooky Halloween celebration on the ice. The city officials announced that the ice skating rink will host fog-covered ice, a family-friendly trunk-or-treat event, and spooky skate sessions to mark the start of the 2025-26 season. KayLeigh Miller, the planning director of Ponderay, shared the details of the upcoming festivities.
There will be two family skating sessions scheduled at 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., along with an adults-only costume skate session from 8:30 to 10 p.m. Tickets for these events can be purchased online at skatethepond.com or at the rink. Additionally, those interested in participating in the trunk-or-treat event can reach out via email at [email protected].
Excitement is building as the rink is set to open in October, almost a month earlier than last year's grand opening. The Halloween-themed activities on Thursday are just the beginning of a series of events planned to kick off the second season of operation at The Pond.
On Saturday, the rink will host the "Puck at The Pond" hockey tournament featuring twelve teams. The tournament, the second of its kind at The Pond, will start at 8 a.m. on Saturday and run until 6:30 p.m. on Sunday. Spectators can attend the games for free and enjoy the competitive spirit on the ice.
In a new development, youth hockey will be introduced at The Pond through a partnership between the city of Ponderay and North Idaho Ice. The youth hockey league aims to provide kids in the area with an opportunity to learn and enjoy the sport. Tim Wilson from North Idaho Ice expressed enthusiasm for the program and the chance to introduce hockey to a new audience.
As the rink gears up for an exciting season ahead, the community can look forward to a mix of Halloween-themed fun, competitive hockey tournaments, and the introduction of youth hockey at The Pond. Stay tuned for more updates and events at the rink as the season unfolds.
