Family Seeks Justice: Lawsuit Against Royal Caribbean for Tragic Cruise Overboard Incident

The family of a woman who tragically fell overboard during a Taylor Swift-themed cruise is taking legal action against Royal Caribbean. Dulcie White, 66, went missing from the deck of the Allure of the Seas on October 22, 2020. Her family has filed a lawsuit in Miami-Dade County, Florida, seeking justice for their loss.

According to Megan Klewin, Ms. White's daughter, her mother disappeared while guests were enjoying the cruise festivities. Ms. Klewin recalled the moment she saw her mother seated on the balcony's edge before she fell overboard. Despite efforts to reach her in time, Ms. White tragically fell into the sea.

The cruise, which featured a Taylor Swift event, had tickets starting at $1,573. Ms. White had purchased an unlimited alcoholic beverages package for an additional $80 to $90 per day. The family alleges that Ms. White was served alcohol continuously, even when she was visibly intoxicated, with slurred speech and difficulty standing.

The lawsuit claims that Ms. White was served seven alcoholic beverages within a span of approximately six hours and eight minutes. The family also accuses the cruise ship of failing to stop after the incident and not sending out rescue teams promptly. Despite this, the U.S. Coast Guard and the Royal Bahamas Defense Force conducted a search operation.

Royal Caribbean stated that its crew immediately initiated a search and rescue effort. Ms. Klewin believes that the excessive alcohol consumption contributed to her mother's tragic death. The family's attorney, Spencer Aronfeld, hopes that the lawsuit will lead to stricter regulations regarding alcohol service on cruise ships.

In conclusion, the family of Dulcie White is seeking justice for her untimely death during the Taylor Swift-themed cruise. They are holding Royal Caribbean accountable for the circumstances surrounding the incident and advocating for stricter alcohol service policies on cruise ships.
