Steppenwolf's Broadway Success: Little Bear Ridge Road and Beyond
Little Bear Ridge Road has made its way to Broadway after a successful run at Steppenwolf last year. The production recently opened at the Booth Theatre. Steppenwolf has a history of transferring its productions to Broadway, with three shows making the jump in 2025 alone. Another notable Steppenwolf production, King James, made its New York premiere off-Broadway in 2023, exploring the unexpected friendship between two men tied to the fortunes of their idol. Downstate, written by Bruce Norris, delves into the lives of four men convicted of sex crimes against minors, sparking a thought-provoking discussion on forgiveness and compassion. Pass Over, a poignant play about two young men dreaming of a better future, premiered at Steppenwolf in 2017 and later made its Broadway debut. The Minutes, a comedic play by Tracy Letts, offers a satirical look at the inner workings of a city council meeting, unraveling themes of greed and ambition. Linda Vista, also by Tracy Letts, follows the journey of Wheeler, a middle-aged man navigating love, sex, and self-discovery. Steppenwolf's commitment to producing innovative and thought-provoking works continues to captivate audiences on both Broadway and off-Broadway stages.
