Vape! The Grease Parody: A Modern Twist on a Classic Musical

"Vape! The Grease Parody" is a modern take on the classic musical "Grease," set in a 1950s high school but reimagined for today's audience. The show humorously updates elements of the original movie that have not aged well, such as smoking being replaced by vaping and the iconic Greased Lightnin' car being swapped for a Prius. The characters, including the Pink Ladies now called the Pink Squad, and Danny and Kenickie, are portrayed as sexually fluid and more inclusive. The show also addresses the problematic message of Sandy changing herself for a man in the original film's ending. The cast pokes fun at the age discrepancies of the actors in the movie and incorporates modern dating references and awareness of psychological games and boundaries. "Vape! The Grease Parody" offers a fresh and humorous take on a beloved classic, running at Theater 555 on West 42nd Street until Jan. 4.
