Michigan Men's Ice Hockey Team Sweeps Notre Dame After Strong Weekend Performance

Michigan's men's ice hockey team faced a tough weekend on the road against Notre Dame after splitting a series with Western Michigan. In Friday night's game, Michigan took an early lead with a power play goal by Will Horcoff. The Wolverines dominated the second period with goals from Horcoff, Dakoda Rheaume-Mullen, and Aidan Park, taking a 4-0 lead. Notre Dame fought back with two goals, but Michigan secured a 5-3 victory with a power play goal from T.J. Hughes in the third period.

On Saturday night, Notre Dame struck first with a goal from Danny Nelson, but Michigan responded with a goal from Nick Moldenhauer to tie the game at 1-1. Despite numerous shots on goal in the third period, Michigan couldn't break through Notre Dame's goaltender, leading to a 1-1 tie at the end of regulation. In overtime, Will Horcoff scored his third goal of the weekend to secure a 2-1 win and a sweep for Michigan.

With the weekend wins, Michigan improved to 9-1 on the season and a 2-0 start in Big Ten play. The team will look to continue their success next weekend when they face Wisconsin at Yost for two games on Friday and Saturday night.
