2025 British Independent Film Awards (Bifas) Nominations: A Celebration of Independent Filmmaking Talent

The 2025 British Independent Film Awards (Bifas) nominations have been announced, with Akinola Davies Jr’s My Father’s Shadow, Harry Lighton’s Pillion, and Kirk Jones’s I Swear leading the pack. Davies Jr’s debut film received 12 nominations, while Lighton’s Pillion followed closely with 10 nominations. Jones’s I Swear also secured nominations in various categories. Other films like Harris Dickinson’s Urchin and James Griffiths’ The Ballad Of Wallis Island also received nominations in different categories.
The best director category includes Lynne Ramsay for Die My Love and Laura Carreira for On Falling, among others. Acting nominees include Jennifer Lawrence, Cillian Murphy, and Robert Aramayo for their performances in various films. The cast of Warfare has already won the best ensemble performance award.
The nominees for the cinema of the year prize include Depot Cinema, The Magic Lantern Cinema, Montrose Playhouse, Queen’s Film Theatre, and Watershed. The winners will be announced at the Bifa ceremony in London on November 30. Several nominees have previously been named Screen Stars of Tomorrow.
