Black Phone 2: A Chilling Sequel to Joe Hill's Thrilling Story

Universal Pictures, Blumhouse Productions, and director Scott Derrickson brought us the adaptation of Joe Hill's short story "The Black Phone" in 2021, which was a box office success. Following the success of the first film, Black Phone 2 was released in theaters on October 17th and has already grossed over $100 million worldwide. Universal Pictures Home Entertainment has announced that the digital release of Black Phone 2 will be available on November 4th, with the physical media release scheduled for December 23rd.
Scott Derrickson and C. Robert Cargill, who collaborated on the screenplay for the first film, have also written the screenplay for Black Phone 2. Derrickson is back in the director's chair for the sequel, with Blumhouse's Jason Blum and Ryan Turek producing. The story, based on Joe Hill's short story, follows Finney Shaw, a 13-year-old boy abducted by a sadistic killer and trapped in a soundproof basement. The sequel features returning cast members Mason Thames, Madeleine McGraw, Jeremy Davies, and Ethan Hawke, who reprises his role as The Grabber.
Black Phone 2 follows Finn, now 17, as he grapples with life after his captivity, while his younger sister Gwen starts receiving calls from the black phone in her dreams. The siblings embark on a journey to Alpine Lake, where they uncover a connection between The Grabber and their family's history. The film promises a chilling confrontation with a killer who has become more powerful in death.
The sequel comes with bonus features, and early reviews suggest that while Black Phone 2 may not be as fresh as its predecessor, it still delivers a compelling and suspenseful experience. Are you excited about the digital release of Black Phone 2? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
