Indiana Fever Players Take on Additional Basketball Roles During WNBA Offseason: Aerial Powers Suffers Finger Injury Overseas
During the WNBA offseason, several Indiana Fever players have taken on additional basketball roles. Kelsey Mitchell, Lexie Hull, Aliyah Boston, and Aari McDonald are currently playing in Unrivaled, while Sydney Colson, Odyssey Sims, Brianna Turner, and Bree Hall are participating in the Athletes Unlimited Pro Basketball league. Aerial Powers and Shey Peddy have ventured overseas to play for Canakkale Belediyespor in Turkey. Unfortunately, Powers suffered a finger injury during a game in the Turkish Women's Basketball League, as she shared on her Instagram Stories.
Powers showcased her swollen right index finger in the video, revealing that she sustained the injury during a game against Fenerbahce. Despite her impressive performance in the game, recording 26 points, 10 rebounds, and six assists, the injury raised concerns about her availability for future games. Powers did not disclose the severity of the injury or whether she would miss any upcoming games due to it.
Although the status of Powers' injury remains uncertain, her positive demeanor in the Instagram video suggests that she is in good spirits. As a free agent after signing a rest-of-season contract with the Fever in 2025, Powers' future with the team is uncertain. However, her solid performance during the previous season is likely to attract interest from other teams looking to secure her services.
