Murder Investigation of Taiwanese Influencer Iris Hsieh Yu-hsin in Malaysia: Latest Updates on Namewee's Involvement and Police Findings

The recent death of Taiwanese influencer Iris Hsieh Yu-hsin in Malaysia has been reclassified as murder by the Kuala Lumpur police. The body of a Chinese woman found in a hotel bathtub was initially considered a sudden death but has now been categorized as murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code. Hsieh, known as the “nurse goddess” for her nursing background and appearance, was reportedly filming a video project with Malaysian rapper Namewee when the incident occurred. Namewee, also known as Wee Meng Chee, was charged with drug use and possession following the discovery of blue pills suspected to be ecstasy in his hotel room.

The police statement did not name any suspects in the murder investigation, and further details are being sought from the Kuala Lumpur police. Namewee, who administered CPR to Hsieh before alerting emergency services, has denied any involvement in her death. He tested positive for amphetamine, methamphetamine, ketamine, and THC in a urine screening, leading to the drug-related charges. If convicted of drug possession, Namewee could face up to five years in jail and nine strokes of the cane, while drug use carries a maximum penalty of two years in jail.

Despite the allegations, Namewee remains confident in the ongoing police investigation and maintains his innocence regarding drug use and possession. He addressed the situation on Instagram, stating that he has only been drinking more recently and did not have any involvement with drugs. Namewee, a controversial artist known for his political satire in songs, gained fame in 2007 with a rap parody of the Malaysian national anthem. The case continues to unfold as authorities investigate the circumstances surrounding Hsieh’s tragic death.
