Fox Entertainment Acquires Meet Cute: A New Era of Creator-Driven Content

Fox Entertainment has acquired Meet Cute, a rom-com podcast company, in a move to focus on creator-driven content. Meet Cute, founded in 2019 and based in New York, has raised $9.25 million in funding from investors like Union Square Ventures and Lerer Hippeau. The company's founder and CEO, Naomi Shah, has joined Fox Entertainment as senior VP, operations and strategy, where she will concentrate on AI innovation, entertainment technology, and IP expansion.
Under Fox Entertainment, Meet Cute will function as a content incubator, producing premium scripted and unscripted series. The company's agile production model will be a valuable collaboration tool for Fox Entertainment Studios as it expands its storytelling reach. With over 200 hours of original audio programming and 51 shows on its Apple Podcasts channel, Meet Cute has reached more than 2.5 million listeners globally.
The acquisition of Meet Cute aligns with Fox Entertainment's tech-focused growth strategy, which aims to be global, platform-agnostic, and talent-first. The company recently entered into a first-look deal with HarperCollins Publishers and invested in Holywater, a Ukrainian tech firm specializing in vertical video and microdramas. This strategy allows IP to originate from various formats and evolve seamlessly across media, shortening traditional development cycles.
Naomi Shah expressed excitement about scaling Meet Cute's vision with Fox Entertainment, providing creators with a faster path from idea to audience and integrating real-time audience feedback. Shah, who previously worked at Union Square Ventures and Goldman Sachs, holds a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Stanford University. The collaboration between Fox Entertainment and Meet Cute aims to bring new voices and formats to life across Fox's global platforms, shaping the future of entertainment.
