Florida Panthers Triumph Over Los Angeles Kings with Marchand's Heroics
The Florida Panthers secured a 5-2 victory over the Los Angeles Kings, with Brad Marchand scoring two goals and Sam Reinhart netting the go-ahead goal on his 30th birthday. Anton Lundell and Sam Bennett also found the back of the net for the Panthers, who bounced back from a previous loss on their West Coast road trip. Marchand, who returned to the lineup after a brief absence, scored in three consecutive games, including the tying goal in the first period and his ninth of the season in the third. Sergei Bobrovsky made 24 saves for the Panthers.
Anze Kopitar and Corey Perry scored for the Kings, who have struggled with a 1-4-2 record at home this season. Jeff Petry's shot led to Bennett's early goal for the Panthers, while Kopitar and Perry found the back of the net for the Kings. Reinhart's backhand goal in the second period put the Panthers back in the lead, and Lundell sealed the victory with a short-handed breakaway goal in the third period.
The Kings had special guests from the Los Angeles Dodgers, the back-to-back World Series champions, in attendance at the game. The Panthers will face the San Jose Sharks next, while the Kings will begin a six-game road trip against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Sunday.
