Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune Syndication Rights Dispute Resolved: CBS and Sony Reach Agreement

CBS and Sony Pictures Television have resolved their dispute over the syndicated distribution rights for Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune. Sony had accused CBS of licensing the shows at below-market rates and failing to maximize advertising revenue. A court granted Sony a preliminary injunction in the case, but CBS regained the rights temporarily. Sony then secured streaming deals with Peacock and Hulu for the shows. Now, CBS will remain the exclusive domestic distributor of the shows in syndication until the 2027/2028 season, after which Sony will take over. CBS will handle advertising sales until the 2029/2030 season, while marketing and promotions will transition to Sony by the end of the 2025/2026 season. International distribution rights will also move to Sony from December 1, 2025. The companies released a joint statement expressing their commitment to continue bringing the shows to audiences worldwide.
