Teenager Arrested for Street Racing Crash in North Harris County: A Cautionary Tale of Reckless Driving

A teenager has been arrested for allegedly street racing and causing a serious crash in north Harris County. The incident occurred on West Mount Houston Road, where 18-year-old Leonel Lopez was reportedly driving over 100 mph in a 50 mph zone. The crash resulted in injuries to a mother and her 11-year-old daughter with autism, who were in the car at the time. Fortunately, the mother's 22-year-old daughter, who was also in the vehicle, escaped unharmed.
Authorities have confirmed that the crash was captured on video, showing the suspect's car bursting into flames upon impact. Lopez has been taken into custody and is facing felony charges. He is currently being held on a $30,000 bond at the Harris County Jail.
