Trailer Park Boys Actor Mike Smith Charged with Sexual Assault in Canada: Company Responds

Actor Mike Smith, known for his role as Bubbles in the popular Canadian mockumentary series Trailer Park Boys, has been charged with sexual assault in Canada. The alleged assault occurred in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, on Dec. 30, 2017. Smith, 53, was charged on Oct. 2 and has been ordered not to contact the victim, whose identity is protected by a publication ban.

Trailer Park Boys Inc., the company overseeing the show's production, announced that Smith has stepped away from his role as managing director in light of the allegations. The company stated that they take such matters seriously and will respect the legal process. Gary Howsam has assumed managing director responsibilities during this time.

Smith's representative did not respond to requests for comment. The actor was previously involved in a domestic battery incident in Los Angeles in 2016, but the charges were dropped due to insufficient evidence. Smith is scheduled to appear in court in Halifax on Nov. 10.

Trailer Park Boys premiered in 2001 and ran for seven seasons until 2007. The rights to the series were acquired by the actors in 2013 and later picked up by Netflix in 2014. Season 13 is set to premiere in April 2026, with the company emphasizing their commitment to delivering the new season for fans.
