Sara Cox's Great Northern Marathon Challenge for Children In Need: A Journey of Hope and Determination

BBC Radio 2 host Sara Cox has embarked on an incredible challenge for Children In Need, taking on a demanding 135-mile journey across four counties, equivalent to five marathons in five days. Hollywood star Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson offered words of encouragement to Cox, urging her to push herself and complete the challenge. Cox will run, jog, and walk through Northumberland, Durham, North Yorkshire, and West Yorkshire, starting in Kielder Forest and finishing in Pudsey, Leeds, with a Pudsey Bear backpack.
Cox shared her motivation for participating in the Children In Need challenge, highlighting the importance of supporting charities that help children and families in need. She emphasized the significant impact of the funds raised through the challenge and the essential work done by the supported charities. Cox is mentally preparing for the marathon by breaking it down into smaller segments and seeking advice from fellow Radio 2 presenter Paddy McGuinness, who completed a successful charity cycle challenge last year.
The challenge has become a central focus in Cox's life, with intense training and preparation leading up to the event. She expressed gratitude for the opportunity to raise awareness and funds for Children In Need, acknowledging the dedication of the charities supported by the initiative. Listeners can follow Cox's Great Northern Marathon Challenge on BBC Radio 2 from November 10 to 14 and find information on how to donate to support her efforts on the BBC website.
