Death Stranding Isolations: A New Animated Adventure Coming to Disney+ in 2027
Exciting news for fans of the Death Stranding video game series! Hideo Kojima, the mastermind behind the franchise, surprised everyone by announcing a new animated series called Death Stranding Isolations (working title) during Disney's Asia Pacific originals content showcase in Hong Kong. The show is set to premiere on Disney+ in 2027.
Originally launched in 2019 by Kojima Productions, Death Stranding quickly became a beloved classic and top-selling game, showcasing Kojima's exceptional world-building skills and stunning cinematic visuals. The game featured a star-studded cast including Norman Reedus, Mads Mikkelsen, Léa Seydoux, and others. Following the success of the game, a sequel titled Death Stranding 2: On the Beach was released earlier this year for PlayStation 5. Additionally, a feature film adaptation of Death Stranding is also in the works with A24.
Kojima will take on the role of executive producer for the animated series, collaborating with director Takayuki Sano (known for Bullet/Bullet, Gridman Universe) to bring this new chapter of the Death Stranding universe to life. The series will feature traditional hand-drawn 2D animation, with E&H Production, a renowned Japanese animation studio, working on the project.
Death Stranding Isolations (working title) will explore a fresh narrative set in the world of Death Stranding, distinct from the video games.
