Karan Johar's Dream Cast for a Modern Kuch Kuch Hota Hai Remake and His Take on Nepotism

If Karan Johar were to remake the iconic film Kuch Kuch Hota Hai today, he has already picked his dream cast. In a recent conversation with Sania Mirza, Karan revealed that Alia Bhatt would play the role of the modern Anjali, Ranveer Singh would step into the shoes of Rahul, and Ananya Panday would portray Tina. He also mentioned Janhvi Kapoor or Sara Ali Khan as potential options for the role of Tina, playfully referring to them as the "younger nepo babies."
Addressing the topic of nepotism, Karan Johar shared that despite being aware of the background of the new generation of star kids, none of their parents have ever approached him for roles. He emphasized that he has always been the one to initiate casting decisions.
Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, released in 1998, is a beloved Bollywood romantic drama directed by Karan Johar. The film features Shah Rukh Khan as Rahul, Kajol as Anjali, and Rani Mukerji as Tina, with Salman Khan in a special appearance. The story revolves around the friendship between Rahul and Anjali, which takes a romantic turn when Rahul falls for the glamorous Tina. Years later, fate reunites Rahul and Anjali, leading to emotional revelations.
Recently, Karan Johar received accolades for his film Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani (2023) and was honored with the award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment. Known for his iconic films like Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, and My Name is Khan, Johar was presented with the award by President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan, with his longtime collaborator Apoorva Mehta by his side.
