Carla Harvey: From Mortuary Science to Rock Star - The Rise of Violent Hour

Carla Harvey, a seasoned rocker, takes the stage at the Whisky A Go Go with her new band, Violent Hour, exuding rock star energy. The band's debut EP showcases a mix of '80s metal, hard rock, and alternative music styles, marking a fresh start for Harvey after leaving her former band, Butcher Babies.
Harvey's deep connection to death and music is evident in her career as an embalmer, funeral director, and grief therapist. She sees art and music as a way to leave a lasting legacy and believes in the power of creating something that will live on beyond her.
Growing up in Michigan, Harvey found solace in learning about death and listening to rock music, which inspired her to pursue a career in music. After moving to Los Angeles, she balanced her passion for music with studying mortuary science, eventually becoming valedictorian of her class.
Harvey's husband, Charlie Benante, played a pivotal role in helping her navigate the challenges of being ousted from Butcher Babies. Together, they formed Violent Hour, with Benante providing musical support and guidance. The band's lineup, reminiscent of the Runaways, allows Harvey to fully embrace her dual passions for music and death sciences.
With a new EP released and plans for more music and shows in the future, Harvey is determined to make the most of her time and pursue her creative endeavors with a sense of urgency. Violent Hour represents a new chapter in her career, blending her love for music and her unique perspective on life and death.
