Hot Money: The New Narcos" - Apple TV Series Unveils Dark World of Cocaine Super Cartel

Apple TV is currently working on a new series based on the popular podcast "Hot Money: The New Narcos" by the Financial Times and Pushkin. The series will delve into the world of a cocaine super cartel that transformed the global drug market, linking the Kinahan crime family in Ireland to a perplexing murder in a small town. The narrative will explore a complex network of drug trafficking, money laundering, and state-sponsored assassinations spanning from Dublin to Dubai. The podcast, hosted by Financial Times reporter Miles Johnson, premiered in December 2023 and consisted of eight episodes.

Eden Productions will be producing the series, with executive producers Richard Plelper and Heather Karpas leading the project. Financial Times, Pushkin, and Johnson will also serve as executive producers. Apple TV has not provided any comments on the upcoming series. The Financial Times and Johnson are represented by UTA and Curtis Brown, while Pushkin is represented by WME.

Miles Johnson, an investigative journalist for the Financial Times, has covered a wide range of topics, including Russian mercenaries, casino heists in Mayfair, money laundering by the Italian mafia, Vatican financial scandals, and covert sanctions violations. He is the author of "Chasing Shadows: A True Story of Drugs, War and the Secret World of International Crime," a book that delves into international organized crime, drug trafficking, and terrorism. Johnson has been with the Financial Times since 2008, reporting from various locations such as London, Rome, Madrid, and New York.

Apple recently rebranded its streaming service, changing the name from AppleTV+ to Apple TV. The new logo is vibrant and will be prominently featured at the beginning of all shows and films on the platform.
