Zombieland 3: Director Ruben Fleischer Teases Future Plans for the Zombie Comedy Franchise

Director Ruben Fleischer made his feature debut with the 2009 horror comedy Zombieland, which led to other projects like 30 Minutes or Less, Gangster Squad, and Venom. The long-awaited Zombieland sequel, titled Zombieland: Double Tap, finally arrived in 2019. Now, six years after the release of Double Tap, Fleischer has confirmed that discussions about Zombieland 3 have begun.
Fleischer mentioned in an interview that he hopes to see Zombieland 3 come to fruition in 2029, following the pattern of releasing a movie every ten years. The original Zombieland, scripted by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, follows four survivors navigating a zombie-infested world. The sequel, also written by Reese and Wernick, sees the group facing new challenges and evolving zombies.
Fleischer expressed interest in exploring different parts of the world in Zombieland 3, suggesting a new setting like Hawaii or Turks and Caicos. Actors Jesse Eisenberg and Woody Harrelson have shown enthusiasm for a third installment. Since Zombieland: Double Tap, Fleischer has worked on various projects, including television and big film productions like Uncharted and Now You See Me, Now You Don’t.
