SESAC Nashville Music Awards: Celebrating Country and Americana Songwriters and Publishers
SESAC, a performing rights organization, kicked off the Nashville Music Awards to celebrate the songwriters and music publishers of the year's top country and Americana songs. The event, held at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, gathered over 500 music creatives for a night of recognition and performances.
The evening began with a captivating performance by Stephen Wilson, Jr., a nominee for new artist of the year at the upcoming CMA Awards. The show was led by SESAC's Shannan Hatch, along with senior directors ET Brown and Lydia Cahill, who orchestrated the festivities.
Emily Ann Roberts paid tribute to SESAC affiliates Jim Lauderdale and Steve Bogard, performing their acclaimed songs "Carried Away" and "Hole in My Head." Kelsea Ballerini honored her co-writer and producer Alysa Vanderheym for their collaboration on the song "Baggage" from Ballerini's Grammy-nominated project Patterns.
Megan Moroney's "Am I Okay?" was crowned song of the year, recognizing her contributions as a songwriter, publisher, and performer. Moroney, a six-time CMA nominee, was also acknowledged for her work on "Break It Right Back." Songwriter Jessie Jo Dillon praised Moroney's unique talent and connection with fans, highlighting her impact on the country music genre.
Warner Chappell Music was named publisher of the year for the fifth time in eight years, celebrating their success with hit songs like "Cowboy Songs" and "Baggage." Michael Tyler received the songwriter of the year award, acknowledging his chart-topping hits and musical achievements. Tyler expressed gratitude for his journey in Nashville and the support of his family and co-writers.
