Arkansas Musicians Shine at the 59th CMA Awards: Jenee Fleenor and Dan + Shay in the Spotlight
Two talented musicians from Arkansas are in the running for Country Music Association awards this year. Jenee Fleenor, a fiddler hailing from Springdale, has been nominated for "Musician of the Year" for the seventh time. She made history in 2019 as the first female nominee in this category. Fleenor, who tours with George Strait & The Ace in the Hole Band and her bluegrass supergroup Wood Box Heroes, has won the award five times but lost to Charlie Worsham in 2024.
Shay Mooney, originally from Natural Dam, joined forces with Dan Smyers to form the duo Dan + Shay in 2013. The pair has been nominated for "Vocal Duo of the Year" for the eighth time, clinching the award in 2019 and 2020. In addition to their music career, Dan + Shay also serve as coaches on NBC's "The Voice."
The 59th CMA Awards will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 19, at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee.
