Hand. Cannot. Erase.: A Theatrical Journey Through Steven Wilson's Fourth Album

A new stage adaptation of Steven Wilson's fourth album, Hand. Cannot. Erase., is in the works with the full support of the musician. The album, which marks its tenth anniversary this year, draws inspiration from the tragic story of Joyce Carol Vincent, a young woman found dead in her North London apartment after sitting there for almost three years. Writer and director Oliver Britten is spearheading the stage adaptation, incorporating live music, dance, visuals, and theatrical elements to bring the album to life in a unique and ambitious way.
Steven Wilson expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating that he believes it has the potential to be something special. While not directly involved in the adaptation process, Wilson has given his blessing and is closely following the development. Britten, a long-time fan of Wilson's music, sees the opportunity to bring Hand. Cannot. Erase. to the stage as a chance to infuse his own creative vision into the album's themes of isolation and human connection.
The stage adaptation will feature newcomer Holly Tarkon in her stage debut, along with Jess Cope's animations that have previously supported Wilson's live shows. Produced by AFAFO Media, a collective of artists dedicated to innovative storytelling, the show aims to transform Wilson's music into a captivating theatrical experience. Producer Alexander Garcia commended the creative team's dedication and artistry, expressing his honor to be part of such a groundbreaking project.
