Motorcyclist Involved in High-Speed Police Chase Sentenced to Suspended Imprisonment: The Case of Kerion Griffiths

A motorcyclist named Kerion Griffiths from Chester was involved in a high-speed police chase while under the influence of drugs. Griffiths was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment suspended for 18 months after overtaking a group of bikes at over 100mph and reaching speeds of over 125mph during the pursuit. The chase took place on various speed limit roads, forcing the police to abandon the pursuit due to the risk involved.
Griffiths was eventually arrested a week later when two officers pulled over his green Kawasaki motorbike. He was found with cannabis cigarettes in his possession and tested positive for drugs at the roadside. Griffiths admitted to being the rider involved in the pursuit and pleaded guilty in court. He was handed an 18-month driving ban, a £272 court charge, and will be under supervision for 12 months.
Sergeant Andy Griffiths of the Constabulary’s Motorcycle Unit emphasized the danger Griffiths posed by using the roads as a racetrack at high speeds while under the influence of drugs. The successful prosecution of Griffiths was attributed to the teamwork of the officers involved in the case. Griffiths' reckless behavior has been addressed, and he has been removed from the roads, ensuring the safety of other road users.
