Honoring Officer Alec Sanders: A Tribute to a Fallen Hero

The Alhambra Police Department in Los Angeles County is grieving the loss of Officer Alec Sanders, who tragically lost his life in the line of duty during a police pursuit that ended in a fatal crash. Sanders, 28, was on duty when the pursuit of an SUV with three suspects led to a devastating collision with his patrol vehicle, resulting in his untimely death.
The impact of the crash was so severe that one of the suspects was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. Sanders was found unconscious and not breathing in his patrol SUV, which was severely damaged in the collision. Despite being rushed to Los Angeles General Medical Center, he was pronounced dead several hours later.
Chief Garrett Kennedy of the Alhambra Police Department revealed that Sanders had volunteered to cover an overnight shift for a fellow officer on the night of the tragic incident. Described as a dedicated public servant, a trusted partner, and a caring friend, Sanders left a lasting impact on his colleagues and community with his unwavering reliability and sense of discipline.
Sanders had joined the Alhambra Police Department in April 2025 after a year of service with the Long Beach Police Department. His body was respectfully escorted to the Los Angeles County medical examiner's office in a solemn procession, with numerous police officers and first responders paying their respects along the way.
Survived by his fiancée, parents, and two younger siblings, Sanders' family, loved ones, and the Alhambra Police Department are in need of thoughts and prayers during this challenging time. The department expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support from law enforcement partners and the community as they honor Officer Sanders' life and service.
