Rumer Willis Shares Emotional Update on Father Bruce Willis' Battle with FTD

Rumer Willis recently shared an emotional update about her father, Bruce Willis, who is battling a subtype of frontotemporal dementia called primary progressive aphasia (PPA). In response to questions from her followers on Instagram, Rumer revealed that it's difficult to gauge how her father is doing, as FTD patients generally struggle with the condition. Despite the challenges, she expressed gratitude for being able to spend time with him and see glimpses of his true self.
Rumer acknowledged that Bruce's condition has changed their relationship, but she still sees a spark of him that brings her comfort. She also mentioned that she cherishes the moments when her 2-year-old daughter, Louetta, gets to visit her grandfather. The Willis family had announced Bruce's retirement from acting in March 2022 due to his aphasia diagnosis, followed by the revelation of his FTD diagnosis in February.
Emma Heming, Bruce's wife, made the difficult decision to move him into a separate home to ensure he receives the necessary care for his neurodegenerative disease. Despite facing criticism for her choice, she emphasized that only those with firsthand experience should have a say in such matters. Heming shared that the new living arrangement has been beneficial for their family, allowing their daughters to maintain a close relationship with their grandfather.
Bruce Willis shares a blended family with his ex-wife, Demi Moore, including daughters Rumer, Scout, and Tallulah Willis. Despite the challenges they face, the family remains united in supporting Bruce through his battle with FTD. The love and care they show him are a testament to the strength of their bond and the importance of family in times of adversity.
