Katy Perry's Legal Battle Over Montecito Mansion: A $5 Million Dispute

Katy Perry is currently involved in a legal battle with the previous owner of her $15 million mansion in Montecito. In a court document, Perry is seeking nearly $5 million in damages from entrepreneur Carl Westcott, the former owner. The document specifies that Perry is claiming $3,525,000 in lost rental value and $1,343,401.95 for necessary repairs, totaling $4,868,401.95. After offsetting $149,703 for Westcott's losses, the requested amount is $4,718,698.95.
On the other hand, Westcott's side argues that Perry owes him the remaining $6 million of the sale price, as she has only paid $9 million to date. However, Westcott's claim would be reduced to $5,740,418.18 to cover repair costs. This legal dispute follows Perry's testimony in a Los Angeles court where she expressed her pursuit of justice in the matter.
Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom purchased the Montecito mansion from Westcott in July 2020 for $15 million. The legal battle began shortly after Westcott attempted to revoke the contract, citing a lack of capacity to sign the transaction. Perry eventually gained ownership of the property in May 2024 after a trial ruled in her favor, dismissing Westcott's claims.
The Montecito estate features eight bedrooms, 11 bathrooms, an infinity pool, jacuzzi, outdoor fireplace, kitchen area, and a three-bedroom guesthouse with ocean views. It remains unclear whether Perry and Bloom have moved into the property since gaining access in May 2024. The couple originally bought the home to raise their daughter, Daisy.
Following the end of their six-year engagement in June, Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom have shifted their focus to co-parenting their daughter. Their representatives emphasized their commitment to raising their child with love, stability, and mutual respect.
