Vols Secure Victory Against Houston and Eye Championship at Players Era Festival Tournament

The Tennessee Men’s Basketball Team emerged victorious against Houston with a 76-73 win at the Players Era Festival tournament in Las Vegas. This victory was particularly sweet for the Vols, as Houston had previously knocked them out of the NCAA Tournament in the Elite Eight round. Ja’Kobi Gillespie, a Greeneville native, led the scoring with 22 points, building on his impressive performance in the previous game against Rutgers. Bishop Boswell, returning from injury, made a significant impact on defense and contributed 10 points, four rebounds, and three assists.
With this win, Tennessee remains undefeated at 7-0 for the season and has secured a top-four position in the PEV Tournament standings. They currently hold the top spot in the standings and have a chance to compete for the championship on November 26 if certain results go their way. The Vols could potentially face Kansas in the title match if Auburn defeats Michigan by a narrow margin and either Maryland or Gonzaga win by a small margin. Regardless, Tennessee is guaranteed to play in a third-place match on November 26.
