Luke Combs Talks Super Bowl Halftime Show Dreams and Country Music Representation at the Big Game

Luke Combs recently appeared on ESPN's MNF Manningcast with Peyton and Eli Manning. During the show, the Mannings asked Combs if he would like to perform at the Super Bowl halftime show someday. Combs, a die-hard Carolina Panthers fan, expressed his desire to perform at the Super Bowl and see the Panthers win in the same year. He also mentioned his collaboration with the Panthers on a merchandise line this year. Combs clarified that his response was not a hint at any planned performance, as the 2026 Super Bowl halftime performer has already been announced as rapper Bad Bunny.

Bad Bunny is set to perform at the halftime show for Super Bowl LX on Feb. 8, 2026. While many fans were excited about the announcement, some conservative viewers raised concerns about Bunny's performances in Spanish and his criticism of the Trump administration. A petition was launched on Change.org to replace Bad Bunny with country legend George Strait, citing Strait as a better representation of American music. The petition has garnered over 113,000 signatures, but the likelihood of it being successful remains uncertain.

Country-themed performances at the Super Bowl have been limited, with the last country singer performing during halftime being Shania Twain in 2003. Luke Combs, who joked about his lackluster football skills during the Manningcast, admitted that he wasn't a standout player but contributed to team morale with his humor. Despite his football shortcomings, Combs embraced his role as a locker room presence and joked about his team nickname being "Jokes."
