Recognizing Excellence: Highlights from the CMA Management Academic Excellence Awards 2025

The CMA Management Academic Excellence Awards 2025 were presented at a special ceremony held at Topaz Hall, Hotel Hindustan International (HHI), Kolkata, as part of NSHM Business School’s 4th International Management Conference – NCLAVE 2025 on 20 November 2025. The awards aimed to recognize outstanding contributions by academicians in various aspects of management education and academia. Dignitaries such as Mr. Indranil Banerjee, Mr. Vibhor Tandon, Ms. Ina Bose, Ms. Amrita Tapader, Dr. Rana Bandyopadhyay, Mr. Gautam Mukhopadhyay, and Mr. Suvendu Narayan Roy were present to confer the awards.
The nominations for the awards were evaluated by the CMA Academic Sub-Committee, which included Dr. Rana Bandyopadhyay, Mr. Gautam Mukhopadhyay, and Mr. Suvendu Narayan Roy. The ceremony commenced with a welcome address by Mr. Vibhor Tandon and Mr. Gautam Mukhopadhyay, extending greetings to the awardees and distinguished guests. The event recognized academicians across various categories, including Excellence in Teaching & Pedagogical Innovation, Excellence in Research & Publication, Excellence in Institutional Development & Academic Leadership, Excellence in Student & Community Engagement, Excellence in Industry–Academia Collaboration, Excellence in Demonstrated Ethical & Professional Standards in Academia, and Lifetime Achievement Award.
The recipients of the CMA Management Academic Excellence Awards 2025 were esteemed individuals in the field of management education. Prof. Saptarshi Purkayastha from IIM Calcutta received the award for Excellence in Teaching & Pedagogical Innovation, while Professor (Dr.) Madhumita Mohanty from IISWBM was honored for Excellence in Research & Publication. Prof. Soma Sur from Xavier Business School was recognized for Excellence in Institutional Development & Academic Leadership, and Dr. Udit Chawla from IEM Kolkata received the award for Excellence in Student & Community Engagement. CMA (Dr.) Jharna Dutta from Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan was acknowledged for Excellence in Industry–Academia Collaboration, and Dr. D.P. Chattopadhyay from Globsyn Business School received the award for Excellence in Demonstrated Ethical & Professional Standards in Academia. The prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Prof. Sitanath Majumdar from Calcutta University.
