Thanksgiving Tradition: The National Dog Show on NBC Celebrates Our Furry Friends

Thanksgiving is not just about turkey; it's also a time to gather around the TV and celebrate our furry friends. The National Dog Show, organized by the Philadelphia Kennel Club, will be broadcast on NBC this Thanksgiving for the 24th year. The event, which took place at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks, Pennsylvania, showcases up to 2,000 top American Kennel Club dogs from across the country, representing 205 breeds and varieties. Former "Seinfeld" star John O'Hurley will host the show alongside American Kennel Club-licensed judge David Frei and NBC Sports analyst Mary Carillo.
The National Dog Show features competitors divided into seven groups, with the top dog from each group vying for the coveted title of Best in Show. The event, which airs on Thanksgiving Day at noon local time following the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, offers a glimpse into the world of dog grooming and competition. O'Hurley expressed his admiration for the show, highlighting the joy and comfort that dogs bring to people's lives.
Viewers can tune in to the National Dog Show on NBC or stream it on Peacock, NBCSports.com, and the NBC Sports app. This year marks the 24th consecutive year that NBC has broadcast the event, where dogs compete for the chance to be crowned Best in Show and win a $2,000 prize. Last year, a pug named Vito claimed the top honor, showcasing the diversity and talent of the participating breeds.
