Princess Catherine's Commitment to Children's Mental Health and Well-Being

Princess Catherine made a highly anticipated visit to the Anna Freud children's mental health charity in London. As a patron of the charity, she has visited the center multiple times, including during Mental Health Awareness Week in 2023. Dressed elegantly in a houndstooth outfit, the Princess was warmly welcomed to the charity. In a recent speech at the Future Workforce Summit, she emphasized the importance of nurturing relationships for children's well-being and urged business leaders to prioritize "time and tenderness" alongside profit.

Since 2016, Princess Catherine has been the patron of Anna Freud, a leading organization in the UK for evidence-based research and training on children, young people, and families' mental health. The charity aims to support young people and their families to reach their full potential by providing the necessary emotional and mental health support. Research conducted by the charity shows that social connections play a crucial role in mental health, yet young people in Britain, especially those aged 18-24, report feeling lonely at a high rate.

During her recent visit to Anna Freud, Princess Catherine met with the charity's Chief Executive, Professor Eamon McCrory, to discuss how the organization is revolutionizing mental health care for children and young people through scientific research, collaboration, and clinical innovation. This visit followed the Princess's impactful speech at the Future Workforce Summit, where she highlighted the significance of nurturing relationships for children's development.

In response to the issue of "technoference," which can disrupt parent-child relationships, the Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood, led by Princess Catherine, has allocated £100,000 to support a new study. This study aims to understand and address the distractions caused by technology in parent-child interactions, ultimately shaping future resources for health visitors and early years educators. Princess Catherine's dedication to early years development and mental health advocacy continues to make a positive impact on children and families.
