Unveiling the Extravagant Wedding Scene in 'Wicked: For Good

In the heart of the film "Wicked: For Good," a lavish wedding unfolds between Glinda and Fiyero in a grand hall adorned with flowers, Ozian trees, and a runway of fluttering yellow butterflies. Director Jon M. Chu, known for his extravagant wedding scenes in "Crazy Rich Asians," drew inspiration from his early days shooting wedding videos. The scene, set as a tribute to the Yellow Brick Road, was filmed in the Hall of Grandiosity, transformed by Production Designer Nathan Crowley with nature elements and garden berms. Chu's vision for the scene included a floating orchestra, but budget constraints led to a simpler design. Designer Paul Tazewell crafted a 25-meter veil for Glinda, adorned with butterflies and a crystalized tiara, symbolizing her idea of a perfect wedding and vulnerability. The wedding scene captures the essence of joy and celebration in the magical world of Oz.
